Fans of the Mad Max movies in order rejoice, 2015 marks the start of the latest films of this classic franchise. Starring Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, and director George Miller, Fury Road (2015) will be released in theaters on May 14th. This film signals the start of a full fresh reboot of the franchise which will total at least two new films over the coming years. Since its beginning in 1979, These films take you through the dystopian wasteland that has been ravaged by war and suffered a complete societal collapse. Gangs of criminals are forced to fight from diminishing resources in an increasingly dangerous world. As recently as this year George Miller, director of the Mad Max movies has stated that he intends to produce at least two more films in this series.

If you’re interested in watch Mad Max movies in order, you would first have to pick out which generation you want to watch. If you’re a fan of watching things in chronological order, personally I recommended the answer is not. Each movie is completely independent of the last and does not contain a plot which is chronological across all movies. While the characters remain similar from one movie to the next, the plotline does not remain consistent across all four. Additionally, there are flashbacks in later movies that provide any necessary context you need to enjoy whichever film you’re watching.

Because of the widespread success of these films, Fury Road, a new generation series, was produced to keep fans satisfied before the sequel of the original series in 2015. The Mad Max series has been a resounding success for its creators. Even the earlier films are highly rated both by critics and the general public. In fact, every movie published by Warner Bros. Pictures and it’s gained notable reviews. Even on the highest critical Rotten Tomatoes, the average critic’s score is 97% with an average fan score is 85%. On IMDb, it has a modest 8.1 out of 10. However, it appears that the opposite is true with Mad Max, where the latest 2015 hit, Fury Road was the highest-rated movie of all. This can be attributed to the plot, but also the amazing special effects differences from the last movie in Beyond the Thunderdome in 1985.

In the future of this movie, the series looks bright, and according to its makers, there is enough left in the story for at least two new films. After the discharge of Fury Road, George Miller started that the next film entitled Furiosa had already been written and he hopes to start production soon. After the release of Fury Road, rumors spread that it had been the top of the Mad Max series. However, Miller confirmed in an interview that those statements were untrue and that the series would continue to live on.

For decades, Mad Max has been delivering the last word action-packed movies, with nearly non-stop fighting, racing, explosions, and more. The films which have developed a cult following are just now being revived after nearly two decades of silence from their makers. At least two more in the works, this hit series is going to keep its fans entertained for many years to come.
